(LEI) is a locally owned, (California Small Business Certified #58276), civil engineering firm established in 2006 that provides engineering services for small and large projects for the public and private sector clients throughout California. At LEI, we are a multi-facet company capable of managing projects acting as a prime design professional and also as subconsultant in large multi-disciplined design teams. We apply a focused design approach to utilizing construction materials efficiently and with post project operation fundamentals in mind, we identify project constraints early, allowing our team to achieve accurate construction documents that result in shorter permitting time and cost effective, efficient designs for the client. In today’s fast-tracked project schedules it is critically important to have effective, frequent communication with both the client and the design/consulting team. LEI has formed strong relationships with local and regional architects, structural, mechanical & geotechnical engineers; we are experienced in coordinating our designs with other project consultants ensuring that project specifics and schedule converge. Our philosophy is based on partnering with clients – working with you as your consultant, your advocate, and your expert in all phases of the project. LEI’s design approach and staged project fundamentals include:

– Perform a constructability review of the project site plan to develop value engineering suggestions that may reduce site construction costs or improve project schedules.

– Initiate contact with local utility agencies and conduct site surveys/visits to ascertain existing
surrounding features that may impact the project. LEI’s research for as-built utility information can identify project constraints early which can translate into reduced project cost and time savings.

– Prepare 30% plans and initiate frequent contact with the reviewing/permitting agency to obtain preliminary geometric approvals of the project. In LEI’s experience, the reviewing agency will process projects faster when the consultant initiates a preliminary design approval meeting with the permitting agency ahead of developing full construction documents.

– Prepare 50% design documents and 70% and 100% construction documents. At each stage the client is encouraged to participate in value engineering and constructability reviews, such that LEI and client converge in meeting project expectations and budgets.
